For the past eighteen years, Tupelo Children’s Mansion has been blessed to have Dorcas Ministries devote a week each and every year to visit our campus and sew various items for our ministry. Although the needs vary from year to year, the impact that these wonderful ladies have on our campus is always consistent.
This year, they completely redecorated Campbell Cottage, which is used as a retreat for our Residential Mentors and special guests, painted and redecorated our refurbished Baby Daycare area, made 60 plus nap pads for our babies and toddlers, and made pajamas and skirts. They even helped one of our resident young ladies with her wedding gown and bridesmaid dresses for her upcoming wedding. They also made tablecloths and toppers, which are used at our annual TCM Fellowship Banquet.
The one thing everyone on campus looks forward to is the ladies’ annual crawfish boil, which our children thoroughly enjoy. There are crawfish races and many of our children taste this southern delicacy for the first time in their lives.
This year the Dorcas Ladies set a record in one aspect because they brought 21 ladies and one young man. This is an all-time high for attendance, and we were extremely blessed by all who sacrificed their time, talents, and energy to minister to the residents and staff of TCM.
On behalf of Tupelo Children’s Mansion, I cannot express our gratitude adequately enough. This is an event that we look forward to each year, and we hope to experience many more years with these wonderful ladies who personify Dorcas; “abounding in good deeds and acts of mercy.”
