The fall season is upon us, and the campus is alive with the sights and sounds of a new school year. Our on-campus school – Tupelo Christian Academy – began classes on August 18.
We currently have 143 students enrolled: 16 in preschool, 32 in lower elementary, 37 in upper elementary, 52 in Junior/Senior High School, and 5 in Haven of Hope Girls’ Home.
Thomas Noe and our wonderful TCA staff members have worked very hard to get ready for a successful school year. A new science lab has been completed and our students are now being taught biology, chemistry and physics by James Morris, who has a biochemistry degree from the University of California. Currently, all of our Junior High and High School teachers are degreed specialists in the subjects they are teaching. Seventy percent of our teachers from K5 through high school hold an academic degree, while the remaining teachers hold a degree from a Bible college.
The K3 was recently relocated to the lowest part of Wolff Hall. It is now in between the Baby Daycare and K4. Our Preschool classrooms are now located under one roof. The structure was enhanced to utilize all available space and create a kid-friendly, academic environment.
Grades K3 through 12 are presently utilizing the A Beka Curriculum, while math classes in grades 7 through 12 are employing the McDougal Littel Math Program. We also have a learning center which utilizes the A.C.E. program for those who are not able to excel in a traditional classroom. The combination of teacher-taught instruction while still employing a learning center has proven to be effective in meeting the unique needs of all students at Tupelo Christian Academy. Some electives this year include: Spanish, psychology, sociology, current cultures, business law, computers, keyboarding, and life skills.
TCA has received its Level Two status of accreditation with the Association of Christian Teachers and Schools program. We believe that this program will work well in conjunction with the goals of our ministry and assist TCA in the continuance of academic and spiritual excellence.
