Because We Share Something In Common

The Tupelo Children’s Mansion 2010 Alumni Reunion was held on June 11 -13.

This was a time for alumni of Tupelo Children’s Mansion and Tupelo Christian Academy to come together to share their lives and introduce family. The reunion was hosted by the TCM Alumni Association under the direction of the alumni council. Council members include: Jimmy Tucker, President; Eric Burton, Vice-President; Sabrina Walpole, Secretary; and Natania Smith, Treasurer. Crystal Tucker, Linda Dobbs, and Terah Jones are the members-at-large.

The reunion began Friday evening at Barnhill’s restaurant in Tupelo. Alumni enjoyed an evening of fellowship and reminiscing of days they remembered together. Saturday morning allowed another time for fellowship and pizza at BancorpSouth Arena in Tupelo. Alumni were represented from all five decades. Some brought old photo albums to chuckle at old hair styles and fashion in their day. Tours of the TCM campus were given from 1:00 P.M. – 3:00 P.M. The weekend ended with an extraordinary banquet catered by one of TCM’s own alumnus, Randy Harden.

The weekend was a time of fun, laughter, connecting, and healing. Although many alumni did not look the same as when they left, they all came back with one purpose; to allow love to work in their heart. The title of the presentation at the banquet was “Lifesong.”

Former TCM Superintendent, R. P. Kloepper, with current President, Stephen Judd

Their Lifesong was, “Because we share something in common; at some point you decided to give; you gave love a chance. We are more than alumni; we are many that have come with one thing in common; we allowed love to change us. Thank you to TCM and to the Lord for teaching us to love, so that we could change.”
