BY ERMA JUDD For the 17th straight year, the Dorcas Ministry headed by Gloria Chatagnier came to the Tupelo Children’s Mansion the last week of March. Gloria brought fifteen “angels” from all over Louisiana and Texas. When they left, we knew once again that we had been blessed! They worked like busy beavers all week and they made blouses and skirts for the girls and pajama bottoms for the boys. They mended piles of clothes for the children and re-upholstered cushions for the resident homes’ furniture. They made black panels for a large divider and sheers for the windows in Hansford Hall (the Lumpkin Center.) Two of the ladies stripped the wallpaper in Hansford Hall bathrooms. To their surprise, they found three layers of wallpaper! The ladies also got these rooms ready for painting. We all feasted on Gloria’s famous Cajun chicken and sausage gumbo, with all the trimmings. What a treat! The ladies bless the staff and children each time they come. They work tirelessly day and night to accomplish what needs to be done for the year. Some of the same ladies have been coming all seventeen years. Each time they come, our campus and residents look a little brighter with apparel, material and smiles! TCM loves the Dorcas ladies!
