An Overview of Our Campus
Our secure campus is located on 37 acres of beautiful hills of east Tupelo, Mississippi. Tupelo Children’s Mansion offers temporary and long-term residential care for children needing care. It includes residence halls, staff housing, a Christian school, a gymnatorium, a dining hall, administrative offices, and so much more. Through the generous support of donors, we are able to provide 24-hour care for the children who call TCM home. Our comprehensive services encompass:
- Caregiving
- Education
- Recreational and organized activities
- Therapy and behavioral support
- Spiritual nurturing
- Transitional guidance
While we desire family reunification, we recognize that this isn’t always feasible. Our ultimate goal is always to do whatever is best for the child. We provide compassionate care for children of all ages, from birth until adulthood, that aims to meet their needs and help them heal and grow.
A Glimpse of Our Family-Oriented Residence Halls
TCM has six separate residence halls where children live with their caregivers (we call them houseparents). Each is designed to house ten to eighteen children, and boys and girls are separated into different households. Our residence halls look and feel like large homes, with the same kinds of rooms and amenities as a typical house. Children share a room with two to three other children, depending on the size of the room, and each child has his or her own bed and dresser.
Each household operates like a family unit, with full-time, dedicated houseparents who are responsible for maintaining their home and the children in their care. Although each residence hall is managed by it’s own houseparent, the expectations regarding behavior, discipline, meals, chores, and bedtimes are consistent across all residences. Houseparents ensure all personal needs are met and oversee meals, homework, chores, and laundry. Children are expected to maintain the cleanliness of their rooms at all times and are given age-appropriate chores and responsibilities within the household.
Campus Life at a Glance
On school days, children at TCM begin their day by getting ready and then heading to the large cafeteria for breakfast. Children in Pre-K through 12th grade wear uniforms and attend school at our on-campus Tupelo Children’s Mansion Academy (TCMA), while younger children spend their day in our on-site daycare. Children in grades 8 and under learn from dedicated teachers using the Abeka curriculum while high school students participate in the fully-accredited online Acellus Academy. In addition to the core subjects and related courses, children have a daily Bible class. Once school has finished for the day, children head back to their homes to do homework and chores, have dinner, and play. Children can also participate in various extracurricular activities, and we have several large outdoor areas for the entire TCM community to spend time together being active, including:
- Playgrounds
- Volleyball areas
- Basketball court
- Track
- Guarded swimming pool
- Open areas for biking, RipStiks, and other equipment
- Community garden
In everything we do at TCM, our aim is to provide each child with the individualized attention and care that they need. We strive to give them a safe and loving environment to help them heal and flourish.
